Foundry Conferencing and Facilitation (www.FoundryUSA.com) features one of the largest line-ups of anti-terrorism experts at a National Cyberterrorism Conference addressing terrorists' use of the cyber domain, May 3-5, 2011, at the Kona Kai Resort in San Diego, California. Attending are members from 72 state intelligence fusion centers, terrorism task forces, military cyber commands, policy makers, and law enforcement (see also Terrorism).
According to a December 12, 2010 online article posted on The Hill, "the number of cyber attacks aimed at taking over systems that control utilities and other critical industries is on the rise." The National Cyberterrorism Conference will address that threat on critical infrastructure, and the threat from physical attacks that are plotted online. Many high-profile physical attacks, including the Fort Hood attack and the Christmas Day Bomber attack, have had a cyber nexus. With those attacks on the rise, the government must adapt its approach to meet this ever varying challenge. The conference will address that challenge, which threatens the national critical infrastructure and the fabric of small town America.
Conference keynote speakers include the Honorable Charles Allen, the Honorable Shannen Rossmiller, Dr. Jarret Brachman, Jeff Bardin, Captain John Felker, and Stewart Bertram. Allen, the former CIA Assistant Director of Central Intelligence for Collection, will present on the national threat from cyberterrorism. Rossmiller, a legendary private cyber investigator, will present "Casting a Web for Terrorists." Rossmiller will show her work as a cyber counter-terrorist operative, in which she posed as an Arabic-speaking cyber jihadist and investigated over 200 terrorists. Dr. Jarret Brachman, an internationally recognized counterterrorism expert and former Director of Research at West Point's Combating Terrorism Center, will speak on al-Qai'da's media strategy and internet radicalization. Jeff Bardin will provide analysis of Al-Qai'da's INSPIRE online magazine, which has radicalized jihadists in the U.S. and foreshadowed future attacks on the homeland. Captain Felker, Deputy Director of the new USCG Cyber Command, will speak on recent military efforts to combat cyber terrorism. Stewart Bertram of the UK's VeriSign iDefense, will address "hacktivism" and cyber intelligence efforts in preparation for the 2012 London Olympics.
Each day of the conference will conclude with a panel discussion featuring key speakers from that day's presentations.
