A man shot dead by police in Sydney on Wednesday had been released from a psychiatric
ward just 24 hours earlier.

An inspector shot 31-year-old AWSIE MOHAMMED several times while the man was stabbing
22-year-old MATTHEW FITZHENRY outside a Riverwood video store.

MOHAMMED had refused police demands to drop his knife.
