DELMAR -- For the first time in a long time, there were no grim faces in the Albany River Rats' locker room.
After a spirited practice at the BIG Arena on Wednesday afternoon, several members of the Rats joked with each other, laughed and smiled.
There was no trace of the Rats' constant companions of the past month-and-a-half -- gloom and doom. There was no frustration and no despair, two emotions that have hovered over this hockey team like a black cloud.
Anyone associated with the Rats is indeed giving thanks today because the streak is over. Finally.
