Vic: Four charged after police intercept car
MELBOURNE, Dec 22 AAP - Police have charged four men after police allegedly discovered
a sawn-off firearm, two handguns and masks in a car they intercepted at Mount Waverley,
in Melbourne's south-east, this afternoon.
Special Operations Group police arrested three men after they intercepted an allegedly
stolen car in Lional Road near Blackburn Road about 4.35pm.
They allegedly found the guns and masks in the car.
A short time later, another man was arrested while driving an allegedly second stolen car.
Police have charged four men with conspiracy to commit armed robbery.
They are: Lawrence William Rowley, 58, of Andrews Avenue, Reservoir, Peter Gruber,
51, of Arrunga Court, Patterson Lakes, John William Ridgway, 43, of Newham Grove, Ormond,
and Brendan Peter Gruber, 27, of Arrunga Court, Patterson Lakes.
The four men tonight appeared in an out-of-sessions court hearing where they were remanded
in custody to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court next Wednesday.
